Buyers who want a vPro i7 EliteBook at the lowest price
Buyers who want the newest panel, Iris Xe graphics and 12th-gen efficiency
Our honest take: the EliteBook 840 G9 is the better long-term buy for most people because of its taller 16:10 screen, stronger Iris Xe graphics, Thunderbolt 4, and more efficient 12th-gen platform — and in Lahore it costs only a little more than a G7 i7. We recommend the G7 when you specifically need vPro management or want to spend as little as possible on a premium aluminium EliteBook. Both are bench-tested for battery health, port function, keyboard, fingerprint reader and OS activation before sale, and both carry our 30-day check warranty. The EliteBook 840 G7 (2020) and G9 (2022) are two generations of the same flagship HP business 14-inch, and the jump between them is more meaningful than a single-year refresh. The G7 runs a 4-core Comet Lake i7-10610U with vPro and UHD graphics on a classic 16:9 FHD panel; the G9 moves to a 10-core/12-thread Alder Lake i5-1235U with the much stronger Iris Xe graphics and — the headline change — a taller 16:10 WUXGA (1920×1200) screen that shows noticeably more of a document or spreadsheet at once. The G9 also upgrades to Thunderbolt 4, a refreshed CNC-aluminium design, and the more efficient 12th-gen platform for slightly better battery life. The G7's counter-argument is price and the vPro i7: at N.N Laptops the G7 i7 lands around Rs. 104,000 against roughly Rs. 107,500 for the G9 i5 — close, so the decision is mostly about what you value. If you want the modern taller screen, Iris Xe for light photo/video work, and the newest platform, the G9 is the better long-term buy. Both are aluminium MIL-STD business machines that will serve for years.
For most buyers, yes. The G9 adds a taller 16:10 WUXGA (1920×1200) display, much stronger Iris Xe graphics, Thunderbolt 4, and the more efficient 12th-gen Alder Lake platform. The G7's main advantages are its vPro i7-10610U and a slightly lower price. Since the price gap is small in Lahore, the newer G9 is the better long-term pick unless you specifically need vPro.
The screen aspect ratio. The G7 uses a 16:9 1920×1080 panel; the G9 uses a 16:10 1920×1200 panel that is taller and shows more rows of a spreadsheet or document at once. Once you work on a 16:10 business laptop, the extra vertical space is hard to give up.
The G9's Intel Iris Xe (12th-gen) is substantially stronger than the G7's older Intel UHD Graphics. Neither is a gaming GPU, but the G9 handles light photo editing, 1080p video playback, and multi-monitor work more comfortably.
The G9. Its 12th-gen Alder Lake platform is more power-efficient than the G7's Comet Lake chip, delivering roughly 9 to 12 hours of mixed use versus 8 to 10 on the G7. Both use sealed internal batteries, so check wear before buying either.
Yes. Both EliteBook 840 G7 and G9 use two SO-DIMM slots (up to 32GB DDR4) and an M.2 NVMe SSD slot. We can upgrade RAM or clone you to a larger SSD while you wait.
